Filed: 11/5/14 Issued: 12/8/20 An open form disposable absorbent article comprising: a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first waist region and second waist region, a waist edge in the first waist region, at least one waistband in the first waist region, at least one fastener in the second waist region, a leg gasketing system, and at least one discrete landing zone in the first waist region, the discrete landing zone comprising a lateral inboard edge, wherein the discrete landing zone and the waistband overlap to form an overlap region in the first waist region, and wherein the waistband does not overlap the lateral inboard edge of the discrete landing zone; wherein the waistband comprises a nonwoven material, wherein the nonwoven material comprises a bond pattern formed therein, the bond pattern comprising a plurality of bonded areas and a plurality of unbonded areas positioned between corresponding adjacent bonded areas, and wherein the plurality of bonded areas define a plurality of bond lines where the fibers of the nonwoven material are joined together by thermal bonds, pressure bonds, and/or ultrasonic welds; wherein the bond pattern is configured to form corrugations in the nonwoven material of the waistband, wherein the plurality of bonded areas extend in a generally longitudinal direction of the absorbent article, and wherein the corrugations in the nonwoven material of the waistband extend generally parallel to the plurality of bonded areas in the longitudinal direction; wherein the waistband further comprises an elastomeric film and/or elastic strands; wherein when the nonwoven material of the waistband is in an uncontracted state, at least a portion of the unbonded areas extend in a z-direction above the adjacent bonded areas; and wherein at least a portion of the waistband does not form a body-facing surface of the absorbent article.
